PPT Research has developed a proprietary closed loop system for recycling abrasive slurries that are used in a variety of industrial applications, including the semiconductor and solar industries, for cutting and slicing ingots into wafers, and then for lapping and polishing of the wafers into thinner disks. Abrasive slurries are also broadly used in the automotive, ceramics, and metal finishing industries.
After a few hours of use, abrasive slurries typically begin to harden and need to be disposed of as they no longer cut or polish material evenly. This disposal of the slurries has two issues: the constituent components of the slurries are extremely expensive and there is a cost associated with their disposal. PPT’s proprietary system can process these “spent slurries” and return the constituent components to near virgin quality with low processing losses.
