January 21, 2010 – Element Partners, the Philadelphia based growth equity firm, today announced the promotion of Sam Gabbita to the position of Partner.
"Sam has been a critical member of our investment team since 2006. He is a capable investor, and has demonstrated a tremendous aptitude for maximizing the potential of our partner portfolio companies," said Element Managing Partner David Lincoln "we are enthusiastic about Sam's future as a leader in the Cleantech investment sector." Sam leads Element's efforts in alternative fuels and participates in the development of Element's renewable energy and green building practices. Sam has sponsored initiatives in both electronics recycling and wind development. Sam joined Element as a Sr. Associate in September 2006 and during his tenure sourced Element's investments in EdenIQ. Sam represents Element on the boards of Wasatch Wind and Arxx Building Products and is a board observer at Fat Spaniel and Five Cubits.
Prior to joining Element, Sam worked as an Associate at Lazard Freres where he focused on financial restructuring of companies in the energy, transportation, cable and automotive industries. Before Lazard, Sam spent three years as an Associate with private equity firm Nautic Partners where he focused on growth, buyout and venture investments in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. Sam also worked as a Financial Analyst in Investment Banking for Salomon Brothers.
Sam earned his BA in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of California at Los Angeles, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
